about

Two Irish 'slip-jigs' in 9/8 time. Baltiorum comes from the Irish "Baal Tighe Abhran" (Baaltigh abhoran) according to Edward Bunting who translated it as "The Song of the House of Baal." The song was sung at the St. John’s Eve bonfire, and there is an implied connection with the fire-god Baal. It is also sometimes known as Baal Abhoran, or Baaltigh, or Abhran Baaltighoran and Baaltiorum.

The second tune - Silvermore - is also from O'Neill's 'Music of Ireland'.
